General English — from Elementary to Advanced

The General English (ELICOS) course is designed to develop students’ English language proficiency for everyday communication, further study and employment opportunities in Australia.

Learners study in a multicultural environment, providing opportunities to practise English with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

The application journey

Four steps to your offer

The international application collects your personal details, Australian and emergency contacts, residential status, visa information, USI, qualification preferences, language results, schooling and documents.

  1. Choose your course

    Select from GITE’s CRICOS-registered courses and nominate up to three qualification preferences.

  2. Check requirements

    Review English language requirements (IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or CAE), schooling history and visa requirements via the Department of Home Affairs.

  3. Submit your application

    Complete the international student application form with your personal details, residential status, USI and supporting documents.

  4. Receive your offer

    Our admissions team reviews your application and contacts you about the next steps, including fees and OSHC.

Students are entitled to 3 assessment attempts for each unit. If a student is unsuccessful after 3 assessment attempts they will be required to repeat the unit and pay the repeat unit fee. Students found to have cheated or plagiarised work will not be entitled to re-sit assessments; instead they will be required to repeat the unit and pay the repeat unit fee.
